Wieliczka, a city with a rich history and charming corners, has no shortage of places where you can relax with a cup of coffee and a plate full of sweets. I decided to embark on a journey through the local bakeries and cafes to find out where we can regenerate ourselves with a solid dose of sugar and caffeine. Ready for a sweet review? I invite you to read on!
Pączkarnia Domowa, Wieliczka ul. Sikorskiego 4
First up is a new place on the map of Wieliczka, which has already won the hearts (and palates) of residents. It is a true paradise for donut lovers, where tradition meets modernity. What distinguishes this place? First of all, the donuts are prepared in the back and almost immediately go into the hands of customers, still warm and fragrant.
The offer includes both classic donuts with rose or advocaat, as well as more sophisticated proposals that will satisfy even the most demanding and crazy gourmets. Kinder Bueno, coconut or maybe salted caramel? The choice is really impressive, and most importantly, the prices are affordable.
In addition to traditional donuts, there is also a selection of other sweets and breads. And all this served in an aesthetic way that encourages you to abandon any diet. It is an ideal place for a sweet stop while walking around Wieliczka or just after getting out of the depths of the mine (Pączkarnia is located a dozen or so meters from the Regis shaft). The place has several tables and… a coffee machine 😉
Rynek Cafe, Wieliczka Rynek Górny 6
Another stop on our sweet map of Wieliczka is Rynek Cafe, at Rynek Górny 6 (in the same building is the Wieliczka Cultural Center). It is a place with history, which has undergone a thorough renovation and gained a new, charming face.
Right from the doorstep, Rynek Cafe impresses with its cozy interior. Delicate colors, soft pillows and carefully selected accessories create an atmosphere in which you want to spend time. It is undoubtedly the most beautiful cafe in Wieliczka, ideal for a relaxing afternoon with a book or a meeting with friends.
The menu includes a wide selection of cakes and desserts that will satisfy any sweet tooth. Meringues, brownies, cheesecakes – these are just some of the suggestions.
I hope that in the summer season Rynek Cafe will expand its offer with outdoor tables, which will allow you to enjoy the charms of the Market Square on sunny days.
Park Cafe, Wieliczka ul. Szpunara 2
Right next to the majestic Regis Shaft, in the heart of Wieliczka, is Park Cafe – a charming, though small, cafe, which is the younger sister of the aforementioned Rynek Cafe. It is an ideal place for a quick coffee and a sweet snack while running errands in the city, walking or sightseeing.
Park Cafe may not impress with its size, but it makes up for it with a rich selection of cakes and desserts. In the window you will find both classic cakes and cookies, as well as more sophisticated proposals. Aromatic coffee is another advantage of this place, perfectly complementing the sweets.
The interior of the cafe is really small. On warm days, I definitely recommend taking coffee and something sweet to go, and enjoying them on one of the benches at Kościuszko Square, admiring the greenery of the park and the historic architecture.
Cukiernia i kawiarnia Cora, Wieliczka ul. Słowackiego 5A
Cukiernia Cora is a place that has enjoyed unflagging popularity among the inhabitants of Wieliczka for years. It is a place with tradition, known for its rich selection of delicious cakes, cookies and pies.
Among the sweets that particularly deserve attention are rose donuts – a true classic, apples in batter and „raspberry cloud”.
The interior of the confectionery is spacious and offers plenty of seating, allowing for a moment of rest.
Unfortunately, the location of the confectionery has its drawbacks. The direct vicinity of a busy street can be bothersome, and finding a parking space in the area can be a challenge.
Beza Love, Wieliczka ul. Słowackiego 15
Beza Love is a cafe that stands out from other Wieliczka venues with its original, somewhat eclectic decor. It is a place with a soul, where every element of decoration has been carefully selected. The menu includes a wide selection of sweets, from classic cakes to more sophisticated desserts.
Unfortunately, despite its charm, Beza Love has some drawbacks. First of all, the place is quite small. In addition, a busy street runs right outside the cafe windows, which can be a bit bothersome for people looking for peace. Parking nearby is also problematic, which may discourage motorized customers.
Pan Steskal, Wieliczka ul. Słowackiego 4.
Pan Steskal is a relatively new place on the sweet map of Wieliczka, which quickly gained popularity thanks to its wide assortment and affordable prices. It is a chain confectionery and cafe, offering a rich selection of cakes, pastries, breads and savory pastries.
The taste of Pan Steskal’s pastries is typical of chain confectioneries – standard, but solid. You can count on fresh products and a large selection, which is an undoubted advantage of this place. The interior of the place is spacious, modern and clean.
Słodka Rozpusta, Wieliczka ul. Powstania Warszawskiego 12
Pancake fans should definitely check in for breakfast, lunch and dinner at Słodka Rozpusta. In addition to richly decorated pancakes, you will find a large selection of ice cream desserts and drinks – both caffeinated and caffeine-free.
As you can see Wieliczka, while primarily known for its salt mine, has much more to offer than just underground treasures. Its charming streets hide some gems for lovers of sweets and aromatic coffee. Each of the described cafes and bakeries has its own unique atmosphere and offerings, so everyone will find something for themselves.
